Study shows female gamers endure three times the trash talk ... - MCV

Results from an Ohio University study reveal females are much more likely to deal with negative, aggressive chatter than their male counterparts.

Research published on Gamasutra shows players identified as women during Halo 3 multiplayer matches received three unfriendly reactions for every standard interaction, compared to male or unidentified players.

The study reinforces a survey conducted by Pricecharting from September 2012 that found that 80 per cent of the nearly 900 respondents polled believe sexism is rampant in the gaming community ? with 35 per cent having been on the receiving end of sexual harassment while playing online.

A more colorful version of the study, complete with poignant images, has been cross-posted on VGresearcher.
